For the second workshop in the Youth Planning series, we hosted 38 young people and reconnected them to the Choice Neighborhood’s project with a short presentation and encouragement to be bold visionaries during the process. They completed the Postcards to the Future exercise and created amazing images and words that served as inspiration for the adults at the Public Workshop. We engaged the group in pro-social activities and provided the all-important snack at the end of the session.

The Visioning Public Workshop welcomed 51 attendees at the final event of the day. Attendees voted on Early Action Activity selections, prioritized community resources and services, selected precedent images for building and neighborhood planning, and weighed in on public safety. Using the youth’s Postcards from the Future as inspiration, the attendees wrote and designed their vision for the Midtown community using the same postcard format. A short welcome from the City of Daytona Beach City Manager and Housing Daytona Beach Director of Residents Services & Community Engagement and Chief Operating Officer was provided, and then an introduction to the Visioning process was presented.
